John Stewart is the leader of the Green Lantern Corps and a member of its Honor Guard. He is noted for being an excellent sniper as well as a skilled architect.
John Stewart is one of the principal fictional superheroes, appearing in American Comic Books published by DC Comics. The character was created by Dennis O’ Neil and Neal Adams, and first appeared in Green Lantern (Volume 2) #87 (December 1971 / December 1972). Stewart’s original design was based on Actor Sidney Poitier.
Today, John Stewart has become one of the most popular superhero character in American comic books. He is also a starring character in Green Lantern comics since 1970, he had a relatively low profile in mainstream popular culture untill his adaptation for 2000s animated series Justice League and Justice League Unlimited, which was voiced by Phil LaMarr.
This led to an increase in the character’s profile, including his exceptional role in Justice League Comics, which provided him a great character expansion in DC Comics toys and merchandise. Wayne T. Carr was cast to play the role of John Stewart in DCEU (DC Extended Universe) in Zack Snyder’s Justice League (2021). In DCU Chapter 1: Gods and Monsters, we will see both Hal Jordan and John Stewart Green Lantern’s in the series named Lantern’s.
