Knull (King in Black) was an eldritch god of darkness and god of symbiotes and god of darkness. While residing in the primordial void that existed between the Sixth and Seventh Cosmoses, he was awakened when Celestials invaded his kingdom of darkness with light.

Knull was chosen by the Celestials to serve as the King in Black, but he rejected this responsibility. With the first symbiote in the form of a sword, with which he killed one of the Celestial and used his head to divine power to refine the sword, linking both to the fallen cosmic god.

After this he waged the war against the Light, to return the universe to the void, Knull became a legendary figure of terror. He was eventually stranded himself on a nameless planet after an inhabitant stole his blade and unknowingly followed his footsteps. He experimented with his powers and discovered he could bond with any void with lesser creatures in the form of amorphous parasites that he could control.

Establishing himself as the nexus of the hive he created. He conquered many worlds and form new symbiote dragons. When 2 of his symbiote dragons arrived at Earth, they fought with Young Thor, Thor struck down one of them with lightning and that strike disconnected the dragons’ connection with, after which they dissipated into individual symbiote.

While the other symbiote dragons were killed by Thor, and their remains were drowned into North Sea, but they somehow survive, and they merged with the closest hosts they could find. The symbiotes were now infected with honor and nobility, after this the symbiotes turned against Knull, and they trapped him at the core of the throne world, rebranding themselves as “Klyntar”.

The King in Black was freed by Eddie due to the actions of Carnage, he then arrived at Earth fought against all the Heroes, but even after this he was successful in killing Eddie. His victory was undermined by Dylon (Eddie’s son) who was born with symbiote powers and the Valkyrie serving the King in Black’s connection with Headless Celestial. Eddie was brought back to life by the God of Light, which gave Eddie the power to defeat King in Black and burn his remains in the Sun.
