The Sentry stands as one of the most powerful Marvel Universe, one with a complicated legacy and some pretty dark secrets, which also makes him a uniquely fascinating Marvel character. When Sentry was introduced in Marvel Comics, Sentry already had deep ties with other Marvel characters, in the years since, in one form or the other, the Sentry has become deeply ingrained in the Marvel Universe.
The mystery surrounding the Sentry at the time of his introduction magnified his appeal. But as with any character who debuts as a rival for Marvel’s upper echelon of heroes, in terms of power, he proved at times to be divise.
Subsequent stories have demonstrated that the Sentry unquestionably fits in among Marvel heroes. In part, this has been a result of the fact that there is great darkness to the character, as the character continued to be depicted as overpowered, the looming potential for becoming a cosmic — level threat grew greater (especially when his counterpart void took over his consciousness).

History
Project Sentry
On March 1947, Canada’s Department K and remnants of the United States Operation: Rebirth combined all their resources for Project: Sentry. This project was not only an attempt to recreate Super Soldier Serum, and to enhance its effects 1000 times. Later this project, within 30 years it was divided into thousands of isolated subjects, with lab work was being given out to private contractors. [We still don’t know how the resources over the decades, where they might have begun and where it finally is still not known.]
Robert Reynolds, Joining Project Sentry
Over 10 years later, Robert Reynolds, a meth addict, when broke into the laboratory of Professor (professor name is still not known), there he discovered the Golden Sentry Serum. When he consumed the Serum, he gained the power of a million exploding suns. This act killed his partners and the lab guards. He then asked the professor to make more of this serum.
Project Sentry, appalled at what their responsibility had wrought, persuaded Reynolds to let them test their powers at their facility. They could not contain Reynolds for long, nor limit his desire to use his power for the greater good, and the Golden Sun, debuted before a world that had almost forgotten superhuman Samaritans. After taking a revenge from the school bully who bullied him. Reynolds made himself a superhero costume, and made his historic debut.
Connections with other Marvel Characters
Sentry is an optimistic and socially accepted hero who stood in marked contrast to the mostly freaky nature of the heroes. Along his superhero journey, he got a great connection with Mr. Fantastic, Iron Man, Hulk and Spider-Man and Professor X. One of the few heroes active during the years just prior to The Fantastic Four’s emergence.
Sentry gained new importance when the new wave of heroes rose to prominence. Almost instantly knowing the secret identity of Spider-Man, he became a role model for the young hero, as well as an ally to the X-Men, equal to Reed Richards, and a friend to the outcast Hulk. Sentry has even fought Dr. Doom alongside The Fantastic Four, and has also defeated his greatest enemy the General, with the help of X-Men.
The Void
The arrival of the void, a shadowy monster that exploited its enemies greatest fears. The void ended Sentry’s charmed life. The Void nearly killed Scout, drove Hulk into a rampage, and it murdered millions of people in Manhattan.
Discovering that the Void had been the dark secret of his own powers, then he teamed up with Reed Richards and Doctor Strange to create a system which made Earth’s entire population — including Reed Richards and Doctor Strange, forget his existence. With Sentry inactive and forgotten, the Void was erased from existence.
In reality, the Void was Reynold’s own repressed persona, powered by the Sentry’s own powers. The General had recaptured Reynolds and brought him to the mutant illusionist Mastermind, who implanted a ”mental virus” in the Sentry’s mind. The virus created delusions that if Reynold’s used his powers, a devil would appear, intent on destroying the world.
