Ubisoft has announced that Assassin’s Creed Valhalla will be receiving an update to fix small bugs in the game. The recent release of Assassin’s Creed Valhalla on Steam has reignited interest in the game.
The game was first released in 2020, Assassin’s Creed Valhalla is the most recent entry in Ubisoft’s longtime stealth franchise ‘Assasin’s Creed‘. However, upon its release, the game faced huge criticism, with many fans tired of the RPG formula that had seen recent entries into the franchise massively grow in scale.
Now after 2 years, Assassin’s Creed Valhalla represents the longest wait between games in Assassin’s Creed franchise history. Many fans are hoping that the wait might have been for thinking about the direction of this franchise, with plenty of fans still debating if the future Assassin’s Creed should include RPG elements or not. At the moment the fan base is split, making it an unenviable task for Ubisoft to handle.
The news comes directly from Ubisoft, with Assassin’s Creed Valhalla 1.7.0 update planned for release on 21st February 2023 across all supported platforms. The changelog itself is relatively small, with only small bug fixes and improvements made.
However, the update does fix some issues with Ubisoft Helix’s Credits currency not appearing correctly, so the update may have been necessary if it was affecting players’ purchases. The previous major update in the game was the new DLC The Last Chapter, which brought a conclusive end to Eivor’s story, however, the review for this DLC was lukewarm at best.
The news of a new update for the game may come as a surprise to many players. Assassin’s Creed Valhalla has recently reached the end of its post-launch roadmap, with more new content planned in the future for the title after multiple large DLC packs.
However, Ubisoft clearly feels the update is important enough to push out to players. The change log doesn’t state if this is the final update for the game, so there may be some more small bug fixes on the way in the future.
Despite the current gap between games, there’s a lot to look forward to for fans of the Assassin’s Creed franchise. Anticipation continues to build over Assassin’s Creed Mirage with the game’s return to stealth gameplay, as well as revealing many of the franchise’s future games.
